It's Time For Me To Fly!

|

It's not just the title of a cool song by REO Speedwagon...

I officially started flying lessons today. Technically speaking, they started 11/09 because the instructor allowed me to log my intro flight from a few weeks ago. Today we worked on straight and level and trimming the plane, turns about a point, steep turns, dutch rolls (before you ask, not a pastry from holland), rectangular flight patterns, low approaches (including a touch and go), and of course taxiing and takeoffs.

Next time, depending on the wind, we'll work on landings. I asked my instructor how much of the final landing was me and how much was him, and he replied, "the last 3 seconds I pulled back on the yoke because you weren't doing it enough, but other than that it was all you." That wasn't entirely true. He had to talk me through the process.

Time logged for intro flight: 0.7 hrs
Time logged for today's lesson: 1.1 hrs

Total time: 1.8 hrs
